Rafting and Paddling

Swain County and the surrounding region are home to some of the most popular and senic rafting and paddling trips in the county.

Whitewater - Popular destination whitewater rivers in the region include the Pigeon River, French Broad River, Nolichucky River, Ocoee River, Chattooga River and Swain County's own hugely popular Nantahala River. The Nantahala is one of the most popular rafting and kayaking rivers in the country and challanges await all paddlers of all skill levels from begininger to expert.

Flatwater - Fontana Lake is a large clean lake with miles and miles of pristine shoreline to explore. You can launch your boat from any one of the public boat docks.
