Swain County Commissioners

Swain County is seeking informal bid requested for gold coating at the historic courthouse. Bid sheet and specs can be picked up at county managers office. Bids are due Tuesday January 22 at 10:00 am.

January Meetings:

January 14 – 6pm – joint work session with the Town of BC
@ the Courthouse/District Court Room

January 16 – 12 Noon – budget retreat @ the Administration Building

January 24 – 6pm – work session @ the Administration Building

January 28 – 6pm – joint work session with the SC Board of Education @ the Administration Building

Commissioners Meet Twice A Month

The Swain County Board of Commissioners meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month beginning at 6:00 PM, unless otherwise posted. Meetings are held at the Swain County Administration Building, 50 Main St. Meeting Change Notice

Requests to be placed on the Agenda
If you are interested in being placed on the agenda, you must complete an Agenda Request Form (pdf) and deliver it to the County Manager's office no later than Wednesday at 12 noon one week prior to the Thursday meeting.

Notice is hereby given that the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, pursuant to the authority vested in it by North Carolina General Statute 113A-87, proposes to designate the segment Cherokee to Big Witch Gap as part of the Mountains to Sea State Trail.

Location of the Trail

This section of the Mountains to Sea State Trail is in Cherokee (Swain County). The trail begins at the intersection of 441 and the Blue Ridge Parkway and continues for 2.7 miles to Big Witch Gap.

The agency responsible for operating and maintaining the trail is the National Park Service, Blue Ridge Parkway. A map of the trail, along with this legal notice, is posted in the Swain County Courthouse for public information.
